The 1L Star℠

Get A’s in law school by learning the law before going. Yup, law school before law school.

The 1L Star℠ is unlike any 1L preparation program. Most 1L prep services help you with outlines, case summaries, or generic final exam tips. No one truly teaches you to achieve conceptual mastery. If you do not master advanced concepts like gap fillers in Contracts, the Rule Against Perpetuities in Property, or Commerce Clause jurisprudence in Constitutional Law, you can kiss any A’s goodbye. Due to the curve, anyone can get a B or B-. But a true A is elusive without conceptual mastery. The 1L Star℠ gets you there.

The 1L Star℠ is also extremely efficient in reaching our objective of conceptual mastery through only learning cases when necessary. For example, let’s contrast Torts and Constitutional Law. Most law students don’t realize that the case method that is used in most law schools does not facilitate conceptual understanding. In fact, for some classes like Torts, 95% of torts cases don’t need to be learned at all. If you understand intentional torts, negligence, and strict liability, knowing 19th century torts cases is irrelevant.

However, Constitutional Law is a different beast. If you don’t know the true differences between Gibbons v. Ogden, Wickard v. Filburn, and US v. Lopez, then you don’t really understand the Commerce Clause and how its jurisprudence changed over the years. To get an A in your Con Law class, you must learn all of the cases that are assigned to you, both in terms of the details and the big picture.

Unfortunately, most law students don’t recognize these concrete differences in their classes and therefore approach their legal studies inefficiently. The 1L Star℠ will teach you the substantive content of your 1L classes in order to achieve conceptual mastery and then teach you to apply your knowledge on practice final exams. When you know the law thoroughly and can analyze your final exams well, there is nothing stopping you from achieving A’s in every one of your 1L classes.
